Common Mistakes: Social Media Marketing
I have worked in marketing for some time now and I have noticed that there are a few common mistakes that are made when it comes to marketing.
#1
Using Irrelevant Hash Tags
I have seen them used on other people's posts and my own posts. Some of these can be things like a local business's name as a hash tag, your own name, etc. Now, these can and should still be used as long as you apply popular tags along side them.
EXAMPLE: #groundstechtalk #2020
#groundstechtalk is not a popular hash tag. However, #2020 is. Therefore, the post(s) with these tags will show up more often in people's "suggested" feeds because of the popular tag.
#2
Unknown Audience
I have seen this a lot. If you do not know who or where your audience is, you are not going to know how to cater your posts towards them. If you have a basic understanding of your audience (or followers) you can make your content more relevant and interesting for them. You can also use hash tags that are more relevant to them.
#3
Over & Under posting
These can present problems. If you rarely post, people are not going to follow because your account is to barren. Meanwhile, if you post too much, you will annoy your followers and they will unfollow. I generally do not post more than once per day with the accounts that I manage and this seems to work well.
THESE ARE JUST TECHNIQUES THAT WORK FOR ME. THEY MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE.
